The journey ahead
7 days, in orderSeven days and six nights taking in both of Japan's great cities and the country between them. Three nights in Tokyo, with a full day out to Mt. Fuji, then the bullet train south to Osaka for three more - the neon of Dotonbori, and a day trip that gathers up the deer at Nara, the torii tunnels of Fushimi Inari, the Golden Pavilion and the Arashiyama bamboo. Return flights from Kathmandu, Shinkansen tickets, 3 or 4 star hotels with breakfast, a private car and an English-speaking guide are all inside the price, and we handle the visa application with you.

Tokyo's oldest and most significant Buddhist temple, founded in 645 AD and dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon. Enter through the vast Kaminarimon - the Thunder Gate, with its famous red lantern - before reaching the main hall and five-storey pagoda.

Mt. Fuji 5th Station
The Subaru Line winds up the north face to 2,300 metres - halfway up the mountain, and as high as anyone goes without walking. There is a shrine, a handful of shops, and on a clear day a view out over the Fuji Five Lakes with the cloud sitting below you.

A small traditional village built around eight crystal-clear spring ponds, fed by snowmelt filtered through Mt. Fuji's lava rock over decades. Thatched-roof buildings and craft stalls surround the water.

One of Japan's most recognisable landmarks, originally built in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The tower houses a museum on its history, and the surrounding park offers pleasant grounds and moat views.

Nara Park

Before you goPace
Comfortable, with two long days
Three nights in Tokyo before the move south, so the Fuji excursion is a day trip rather than a repack. The one long day is the Kyoto and Nara loop, which is out from early morning until dusk; the Osaka day is a travel day, with the afternoon free once you reach the hotel. Walking is moderate throughout - temple grounds, a bamboo path and city streets, with the car never far away.
Where you sleep
Six nights, two cities
All six nights are in 3 or 4 star hotels with breakfast - three in Tokyo, then three in Osaka once the Shinkansen brings you south, so you unpack twice across the week. Rooms are twin or double as standard, and solo travellers pay a single supplement.

Assistance is part of the package
Nepali passport holders need a Japan tourist visa in advance, and we take the application on with you: an initial consultation, a full check of your documents, the forms filled in together, and support booking the appointment. The consular fee and any documentation charges are paid by you and sit outside the package price.
